Routine Matinal
Eye stuck together like wet corn meal not ready to release tiredness of yesterday
Slept on a huge pillow,it lays on my aunt’s chocolate leather couch
Outfits i put together weren’t good enough slash too good to my eyes
End up choosing anything
I wish I was still asleep, no ironing required
Cheerios for me, cat food for the kitties
It’s humid in the city again, rain in the city again
Quick pace, hot steps I took to the train station were a pain.
This is a poem that my poetry class created in group based on the following prompt:
Write everything that happened to you between the time you woke up this morning and the time you arrived to class.

I thought this was very beautiful. I especially liked the simile comparing your just-awake eyes to “wet corn meal.” Those hot steps were a pain! Keep it up, and keep reminding me to check in.
